Practice Focus and Philosophy

I concentrate my practice on Family Law and the issues that have led to the breakdown of a family including divorce, child custody, parenting plans, support, alimony, restraining orders and premarital agreements. With my experience, knowledge and creativity, I advocate for my client’s interest in ways that rebuild family stability and financial strength after a divorce or separation.

I am in a unique position to advocate for you because I am experienced in so many tools which you can use to bring a resolution to your conflict.  I have extensive education in collaborative divorce and mediation. These are negotiation models that avoid the use of the court.  If necessary, I am also an experienced litigator who has conducted trials for over twenty years in the local state courts and therefore, I am knowledgeable of the decisions of the area judges. Having all these options to resolve your case gives you much more control over the outcome.

The impact of a divorce on a family often requires a comprehensive financial plan as part of rebuilding of your future.  I am experienced in the review and transfer of retirement accounts and pensions, including the very complicated transfer of military benefits. If your divorce necessitates the purchase or sale of house, a bankruptcy, or a new estate plan, we can draw on the experience of my team of attorneys to ensure that you are provided professional advice. If helpful, we can also call upon the several financial advisors and accountants with whom I work, specifically trained in the effects of divorce to create an even more comprehensive and individualized plan all with one goal in mind; to construct your new future recognizing the objectives that you have established.

I also take a team approach when necessary to creating a parenting schedule that meets the needs of you and your children. I work with child experts, psychologists and guardian ad litems to ensure that your children’s best interests are always kept in the forefront of any case. By being proactive in establishing your parenting plan early in your case, I find that the likelihood of going to trial is vastly reduced and leaves the decisions about your children exactly where they should stay; with the parents.

Kris has been teaching fitness programs and dance for over 40 years.  He was a professional dancer in Chicago studying and performing w/Gus Giordano, New York City w/American DanceMachine, Los Angeles w/Westside Ballet, and also performed in “Jubilee” at Bally’s in Las Vegas.  He is currently a Connecticut  Licensed Massage Therapist. Instructing has been Kris’s passion since he started dancing in 1981.  He has been a world-renowned master instructor trainer in the fitness industry since the mid eighties.  He developed fitness certifications for LA Fitness and three levels of Pilates Mat Certifications for the American Aerobic Association and International Sports Medicine Association.  He has personally trained instructors in Canada, Japan, France, Wales, England, Mexico, Turks and Caicos, and in almost every single state.  Kris has been featured on “FOX TV” on their “Fit Tip of the Week” segment and is a published author with Human Kinetics writing a book called “Keiser Power Pacing”, for Indoor Cycling. He has been quoted and published in various fitness magazines and journals.  He holds a group exercise certification with American Council on Exercise and is a Certified Personal Trainer and Master Trainer with Interactive Fitness Trainers of America.    He has presented and consulted for IDEA, AFAA, Can-Fit Pro, IFTA  and many high-end spas such as Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Mexico and The Golden Door in Escondito, CA.

Most importantly, Kris and his wife Laurie have two beautiful daughters, Francesca and Jameson.

Working holistically to meet the needs of each family and to affect change where they need it the most: in the activities of everyday living in all the various contexts children participate at home and in the community.

Our staff currently provides services for individuals from infancy through adulthood, who may be struggling with their daily activities such as playing, having friendships and taking care of themselves. We currently provide individual, school, community and group based services in and outside of our private therapy clinic.

Therapy services and programs are provided within a safe, child centered atmosphere at our clinic located at 30 Avon Meadow Lane in Avon, CT. As well, therapy services are provided at schools, homes, and other community sites in order to meet the various environmental contexts which the child and their family experience daily. Comprehensive assessments, individualized intervention programs and consultation services are designed and implemented by our highly trained staff who have expertise in a variety of holistic treatment modalities.

The Creative Development team, through high quality, innovative therapeutic programs, strives to best enhance children’s capabilities and to foster independence.

If an environment is static or unchanged, the child may quickly adapt and master the environment. Thus, it is important that the treatment environment is constantly evolving, changing, and providing opportunities for the child to grow. This is especially important for children who have difficulty with change, flexibility of thought, transitions, and social situations.
